I can't believe that there are only a few days left of the Paleo Challenge. I have certainly learned a lot about food. I am very proud that I have not cheated with my french vanilla creamer- not even once. I NEVER thought that I could go a day let alone two months without it. Anyway here are a few more days...

Tonight's dinner was yummy! Much better then what I ate after the half marathon yesterday. I had chinese food- it made my stomach sick. yuck..... never again!

Am I wimpy or smart? Today I woke up with my hands hurting (along with everyone else I am sure who did the WOD yesterday) I checked my phone and saw the WOD for today. 5 rds of running 400m - no problem- but then I saw 25 KB swings. Instantly my palms started to hurt and I thought to myself... when you are in the middle of a WOD, sure finish and take the pain, but why start one when hands are bleeding already? So I opted to stay home and unpack more boxes. (I should have gone to the gym... moving is NOT fun!) Anyway- instead of posting the pics from my journal for the last week due to lack of Internet, I will just bring it in and show coach.
Moving = Slacking

Doing this from Iphone because no Internet until Weds. (in process of moving) Food has been okay some cheats for conveinence. Kept a log as best as I could. Didn't measure food but I will as soon as I have kitchen setup and find scale. So not counting blocks until later. Did have a beer and 5 Hooters wings after race yesterday. Suzi was my partner for Hooters half. Our team name was "CrossFit Ft. Myers". We came in first!! ( only 12 teams but we still won!!! Never won before!!!). My first "good" run!! Going to try and post log pics now... If no luck I'll add them in a couple of days. Nope... Won't let me select upload.
Ahhhh, again!

I HATE when I miss CF. My little guy was sick again and then other kids have baseball/softball at night. So NO CF! When I don't go to the gym it is harder for me to stay on track. I had a couple pieces of kids choc. candy. I couldn't stop! It tasted really good, but shortly after I ate it I didn't feel so good. (both physically and mentally) Then for dinner I made Paleo meatloaf and brussel sprouts. (Never made them before, thanks Brod's for the idea) After dinner I felt better mentally that I was back on track. It is weird how when you eat all your meals on track but stumble for one little snack- you feel like you have blown the entire day/week/challenge. :o[
Finally.... closing Friday! (hopefully)
Packing... moving on Saturday. :o} No time to blog :o[ Here are days 29-30. Hope everyone is staying strong with Paleo! Well, maybe just a little blogging.. I stumbled the other day going by Publix bakery.... they had fresh homemade biscuits! WOW! Bought them and ate 2 with olive oil margarine. Boy, they were delicious!
Paleo Porn... (as Stacey calls it!)

Yummmmmm.... So after the 1/2 marathon I ate a proper recovery meal. Did good pre-race also, so I figured I had earned a cheat meal for dinner. Shoot, after 13.1 miles I deserve a cheat week, just kidding! Anyway, I cheated good.... just look at picture. I ate it all. Every bean, fry, b-b-q sauce, a piece of garlic bread with sweet tea. Even ate an entire cupcake, frosting and all. I rarely do that, pre-Paleo of course. Have to admit, going in, it was wonderful- a little later... bloated and tired. (still glad I did it- we will call it a learning experience)
Running on Paleo
So was a bit nervous running a half marathon with eating Paleo. Only because it is a no-no to run with food that you aren't normally used to eating before a run like that. Would I have enough energy to get through it? Would any of the food upset my stomach? So, normally I eat beans and rice/ chicken and one beer for dinner before a race, this time I had ahi tuna, asparagus, few roasted potatoes (yes, white potatoes- according to the Paleo Diet for Athletes, it is okay to eat those before and after an endurance event over an hour, don't tell coach cuz he said No!) Then for breakfast I normally eat oatmeal and half a bagel- well this time I had a sweet potato, apple sauce with protein powder mixed in. (I had to have the hotel reservation lady cook it for me the night before ) Well, didn't go as well as I had hoped, I don't know if it was the few white potato chunks I did eat or what but I couldn't go to bathroom, and I always go before a race. It came to haunt me at mile 5 then finally at mile 8 I had to stop. I did feel like I had plenty of energy during the run and probably would have been faster had I not had the bathroom issue. Can it be from the potatoes? (it has been 4 weeks since I had them?) I know it wasn't nerves because I have done this enough times, maybe it was the one beer I had, because I also haven't had any alcohol in 4 weeks. OR what I really think it was is I forgot to pack my Garmin... are you kidding me?
